Tara's Roti Shop

Soooo....Anyone in the mood for some true Trini food?? Tara's was introduced to me by a co-worker of mine who hails straight from..you guessed it...Trinidad. From the ambiance to the to the food, you definitely can't go wrong if you're looking for authenticity. The food here amazing and lives up to the culinary adventure if you're searching for one. I have eaten here many times and have never had a bad experience. Whenever I'm in the mood for some caribbean flavor, Tara's is the place I go. The menu is diverse enought to satisfy curiosity and the prices aren't bad at all considering prep time and quality of ingredients. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Josephine's Authentic Soul Food Restaurant

The honor of the first entry will go to Josephine's Soul Food Restaurant because they were so kind and hospitable on my first visit. This made the food taste even better, I felt like I was in Grandma's kitchen waiting for Sunday dinner...=o) The funny thing is, I actually found the place on accident while getting my tires changed! I was walking around the back of the shop when I spotted it. I couldn't resist dragging my mother and a friend of mine with me so I could order different things off the menu without looking like a complete heffer. We ordered three complete dinners and of course dessert, which Ill get to in a bit. The place is kind of hard to find, but when you do it's worth the trip. Prices for meals start at $7.99 which includes 2 side items and your choice of bread. Pretty reasonable seeing how long it actually takes to make this kind of food. Rather than go into every single thing I ate, in every post I will make my top picks for each establishment! From there, You know exactly what to do.

Dr. Zee's Picks:

Pot Roast- Its so rich and deep with flavor, just trust me on this one.

Baked Beans- So sweet yet just enough smoky flavor to bring it all home!

Mac & Cheese- I had never really tried a spicy version until now...it works.

Home-made Lemonade- Order it. You won't regret it. If you're still not sure, ask for a sample...the owners are amazingly hospitable!

Sweet Potato Pie- Truly put the topping on my meal!! Im usually a pecan pie person, this was my first time trying Sweet potato pie and I must say, it was Deee-licious!!!

Welcome Foodies Of Tampa, Florida!!

Since this is my first entry, I decided to tell everyone the reason why I created this blog. My mother raised me with an innately curious palate for experiencing different foods from different places. Rather than go out and eat at Mcdonald's or Taco Bell again, I started hunting for places in Tampa off the map and main roads that would satisfy a desire I had to taste the world. This is my version of traveling on a student's budget!!! Every post will include a restaurant or even some random stand that I have eaten at, reviewed in every aspect, and enjoyed completely. I hope you will leave your thoughtful comments as well, letting me know if you loved it or anything else that you would like to share with me! ENJOY discovering !! ***P.S. If you also would like to recommend some places to me and for this site please do so!!
